SPOILERS FOLLOW FOR ISSUES 1 & 2 OF SORCERER SUPREME

Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, may be the new Sorcerer Supreme in the absence of Stephen Strange and Victor Von Doom. But becoming so hasn’t made her lose herself.
Amidst her journey to dawn this new title, it is revealed that she wasn’t chosen by the Vishanti (extra-dimensional magical beings that uphold magical order and champion the Sorcerer Supreme, it’s a lot I know). In the Vishanti’s eyes, the Scarlet Witch has stolen the supreme garbs from Agatha Harkness, their chosen Sorcerer Supreme and Wanda’s former mentor.
And then comes the revelation. Wanda may have “stolen” them in the Vishanti’s eyes, but she cares not. Because she did not take these artifacts as a slight or for malice. She took the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto because she heard them suffering. Amidst the vacuum left in the disappearance of Victor Von Doom and the void of a Sorcerer Supreme, the older Maximoff twin heard their pain and wanted to care for them. For a character whose arc — along with her popular movie counterpart — has revolved around being a mother, this is a pure representation of the Scarlet Witch’s character over the recent era.
Despite becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, the daughter of Magneto is still the same sentimental, caring, motherly, and yet extremely stubborn figure. The rebel mutant is still who she always was —her new position only showcases it.
