2 memorable quotes from NXT Revenge Week 1

Last night’s episode of NXT was action-packed with 2 title defenses. Tony D’Angelo retained against Ethan Page and Lola Vice retained against Jacy Jayne, in what may have been farewell shows for both superstars. Besides the title defenses, the Orlando tapings continued building rivalries for both Jaida Parker vs Kelani Jordan, and Myles Borne vs Dion Lennox.

Here are two memorable quotes from both.

Wrestler pins opponent in ring, showing intense effort. Audience in background. Bold colors and "Challenge" text visible. Energetic mood.

“It’s wild to think how these two have changed since arriving… complete opposites of what they believed when they stepped in the PC here in Orlando.

I don’t think Kelani Jordan has changed or anything like that. I think she’s smartened up, Vic.

She doesn’t smile as much. She doesn’t care what people think anymore. She CERTAINLY has changed.”

-Vic Joseph and Booker T on Kelani Jordan and Jaida Parker

The Voice and Soul of NXT respectively, Vic Joseph and Booker T always do a fantastic job of elevating NXT characters. Most of the NXT roster is still in a learning phase, so they may fail to properly convey some of the story beats TV-ready wrestlers easily can. This is why commentary is so important, and both Joseph and Booker understand the characters to a fundamental degree.

This time, they elevate and shine a light on Kelani Jordan after her heel turn. The quote demonstrates how much things change after a span of time and getting adjusted to more pressure. Kelani went through a storyline where she was bullied and ridiculed by the NXT Women’s locker room for holding a TNA Women’s Championship, so it’s no wonder her insecurity has morphed her into a person that no longer smiles or values the opinions of former friends.

A person in a gray suit holds a microphone in a wrestling ring, facing a cheering crowd. "NXT Revenge" is displayed on a large screen behind them.

“We all know I’m deaf. But I heard that. And more importantly, I felt it. And all the chatter after the match, it wasn’t how I'd just beaten an NXT legend. It was that Dion Lennox might be your next North American champion?…Dion, at Stand and Deliver, you stole my moment.”

-Myles Borne

The NXT North American Champion Myles Borne had a fun promo as he called out Dion Lennox of DarkState. By first playing on his disability, Myles mentioned how the post-match chatter got to him. Johnny Gargano got his praise for the awesome match they had at Stand & Deliver 2026, but the talk around Myles was less about his performance and more about the upcoming rivalry with Dion, who cowardly attacked him after the match.

Like all wrestling shows, a major focus is on who gets the spotlight. With everyone attempting to crawl their way to the top, the champions are never safe. And hence Myles voices his frustration, at an upstart using somebody else to create a buzz for themself.

I’m excited for this match, as Myles is good at selling anger within the ring, while Deon is good at selling grit. It’s a good matchup, and the storytelling is already underway.
